Quick Reads are short, sharp shots of entertainment – bite-sized books by bestselling writers and celebrities, proven to get even the most reluctant readers hooked.
Now celebrating its fifth anniversary, the Quick Reads initiative is a major collaboration between leading authors, publishers, government departments, education bodies, the Arts Council, BBC RaW, supermarkets, bookshops, libraries and many more.
The books have been widely used in Skills for Life lessons and ESOL classes throughout colleges and community centres, libraries, prisons and workplaces across the country. They’ve also been used in hospitals, stroke recovery units, dyslexia centres, care homes, family learning groups, pre-schools, organizations working with homeless people and traveller communities, and Army and RAF bases.
Ideal for engaging a range of new and existing readers, you can integrate Quick Reads into your existing curriculum, or simply use them to encourage reading for pleasure and all the benefits that can bring.
New for 2010 - Quick Reads are available to download as eBooks. As a learning provider the books can be downloaded direct to your computer for use with book groups or in literacy lessons, and provide an innovative approach to reading. The eBooks are particularly useful for people that find it difficult to access printed materials, as learners can manipulate text on screen to their convenience as well as use a screen reader.
